In NY. Gbaby in GA, TADA!

Took my annual winter trip to NY last week. It's always a little dicey traveling in the winter up there and obviously not too many people do it as evidenced by the 1/2 full airplane. Only a few of us are brave enough. I was lucky again to swoop in without bad weather. Enjoy a good snow storm in the middle of the week then watch it melt and me get out of Dodge before a more serious wave of weather. It was fun to see the 6-8 inches of snow. Got to shovel a little and play with GMa's new little snow blower.

Course I had to steel my new little grandniece Emma. She is so dang cute I wanted to add her to the Nagel collection of Gbabies but I could see right off that I would probably have to lose an arm and a leg or more to get her out of Mike and Donna grasp. She was sure fun and I loved getting to see her several times. Had a great time visiting with Nicole, Jenny, and Steve too. What a great week. Too bad it went so fast. Now it's everyone elses turn to travel down south and see our new house.

My sweet little mother! I just love her so. We had such a nice visit. It is always so fun to have Lynn and Steve get to spend so much time with me too. I was definitely spoiled with Lynn's homemade beef vegetable soup and all the fun company.

Emma mugging for the camera.

And the icing on the cake was that waiting for me in Georgia was Anna and Adeline. Unfortunately Anna is real sick with her new baby brewing but I get to reap the benefit of having them here to help out. It's really tough having to play with Adeline and spend time with Anna.

And now for the beginning of the drum roll. The stone guys came this morning to do the fireplace. Here is a photo of the them getting everything covered and ready to begin.

This is the back side of the fireplace. There were 5 guys working. 2 on the front 2 on the back and the gopher guy hauling all the cement and stone. He had the hardest job I think. He must have been the new guy.

This is the gopher guy. There was a lot of stuff for this project. A small dumpster, a pile of sand, a palate of hearth stone, wood, wire sheets, scaffolding and of course all the bricks. The yard looked like we were invaded.

We had to pull the light fixture out of the way. This is a side view with the guys getting pretty high up. They worked really fast.

All the way up and now for the side.

TADA! This is the back of the fireplace on the kitchen side. It looks so amazing. Bill said it definitely was the WOW factor we were looking for. WE both just stared and stared and couldn't believe how beautiful it looked.

Sorry this is side ways but I couldn't get it to turn on the blog and I wanted to get the whole picture.

Amazing eh? A picture paints a thousand words but you will have to see it in person to get the WOW!

The hearth and mantel turned out fantastic. The morter is still wet but you can see the mantel and inset hearth pretty good here. We just love it. Now all we have left to do is the tile work and some odds and ends. I actually see light at the end of my tunnel now and it is so pretty. Won't have many more updates to go before you are back to a boring blog. I can't wait for boring!

Annual Surf and Turf Dinner

(yes, still Sarah here......and yes, these are the photos that are already on my blog)

Anna/Stratton and Sarah/Lee came down for the weekend so we could celebrate with them. For several years we've had our crab legs and flank steak dinner that everyone just loves. Well, Sarah and Lauren choke down one crab leg each, but everyone else gladly eats their leftovers.

These 3 are funny together

Enjoying their mac and cheese

Filling ourselves up

Stratton ate too much
It's been a wonderful weekend around here! Everyone takes off tomorrow and then it's back to the grind for us.

(Note from Sarah... now Anna's asking me to update her blog as well..... hahaha!)

Christmas at Anna/Stratton's

(still Sarah here.....)  We had Christmas at Anna/Stratton's this year. Poor little Adeline was sick, but other than that, we had a great time.

Loves her play shoes from Aunt Donna/Uncle Mike!

Poor sick little girl

Very festive in here!

Anna made me some pillows for my new bedroom and a tshirt necklace.

Bill likes his new tie

New clothes for Stratton

Adeline loves her new shopping cart.
She fills it up with all her stuff  and carts it around the house

Anna got Adeline some play make-up.... and Adeline made a mess!

more of the make-up mess.
We had a wonderful time with them. Then it was back home and back to work!

House Progress

Hi, it's Sarah..... Mom had a lot of pictures on her camera, so I told her I'd add them to the blog for her. Now if I could just update the rest of the blogs for everyone...... :)

The cabinets were delivered last week.... there were 58 boxes!

After Christmas at Anna's (see different post) we got to work installing them.
Looking so beautiful!!!

The day that Sarah and Lee drove down (after Christmas), Stratton put Adeline down for a nap and Anna came down to help us for a little while. In a matter of minutes Bill accidently dropped a board on her knee, nearly punched her in the eye and almost set her hair on fire. She was anxiously calling for reinforcements.

Bill also got the porch build. Things are coming along nicely!
