Temple Tour Guides

The most beautiful day. We were lucky enough to be tour guides at the newly renovated Atlanta Temple. After terrible storms ravaged the south on Friday I was a bit worried that Saturday would be a messy day. Well, the storms pasted through and left us with a gorgeous day. It was only in the upper 60's, very very windy but beautiful skies and big puffy clouds. You couldn't have ordered a better one. This photo is a little dark but after 10 hours of standing and walking mile after mile and giving tours we were quite exhausted, so we felt bodily "dark" too. Not spiritually though; we had the best day. Since it was already after 4pm and we were all dressed up and too tired to do anything else, we decided to go out BIG for dinner. We went to our favorite place, Rays on the River and had a meal death row inmates would have jealous of. We even shared their famous praline basket dessert which we struggled to finish but tortured ourselves anyway. We went home, killed a little time with our feet up then went to bed at 9:30pm. Boy were we pooped. It was all good though and I'd do it again in a heart beat. The Temple was just stunning inside and it was fun to see folks drop their jaws at it's beauty and spirit. Can't wait to start working there for good on Thursday evenings.

New Do for the Hiliger house.

For the benefit of you who have not seen Mike and Donna's new handy work, here is a picture of their gorgeous new chandelier. Notice also in this photo and the next the molding Mike did to the walls and ceiling. It looks so good and really completes the beautiful room. Just so you know Mike, Adam would have finished it in a day, but it's still beautiful even if you were a bit slooooowwwww.
When they added hardwoods to the kitchen and bath they upgraded to some in lay work which is wonderful. It really looks great and I know everyone is enjoying the makeover. Sorry I didn't take any photos of the new counters and sink but that will have to wait for Mike to finish the tiled backsplash. You will all be in walkers by the time he is done ha ha but it IS looking pretty great.
What is it? Yep, a phone booth. Not the step into type but rare none-the-less. I just had to take a picture for posterity. They have gone the way of LP records and 8 track tapes. What are those you ask? Never mind. Just enjoy the phone booth.
Grandma got these socks in the mail from Sarah with a dare to get them white again. The gauntlet has been thrown Grandma. Hope you bought stock in Clorox. Can't wait to see the after. Either they will be really white or they will have holes in them from all the chemicals Gma tries. Stay tuned.

And the winner is....

Sorry about the unrotated pictures but if you knew all I went through to get these last 4 posts in you wouldn't be complaining because I would close down this blog. I was ready to pull my hair out! This is the 4th attempt at getting this blog updated.
....Uncle Mike for getting to 52 without Donna shooting him or being adrift at sea with a hook up his.... or turning completely bald (mmm, moving a bit closer to that one), or electrocuting himself with all his wired house wizardry, or cutting his fingers off doing carpentry and tile work that he just LOVES, or still not winning a fishing challenge with his brother, (his sister even did that), or ...well you get the picture. Happy birthday Mike. Keep up the great work.
.....Jenny. For keeping her weight under control during pregnancy. The before shot of Jenny and her little baby girl Emma. Before dessert that is. Oh well.
....The after shot of Jenny and little Emma. There were two cup cakes holders full of cupcakes til Jenny got started. Apparently Emma loves cupcakes like her mother. Steve tried to get her to stop but you know Jenny and how overboard she goes when eating. After all she is due in June and has to get little Emma fattened up. ....Stratton! He is the lucky recipient of my first pottery creation in honor of his courage to try something new and make big changes in his life. I told him it's probably only good for q-tips but if not he will only have to remember to run quickly before I get there and place it on the shelf. He'll be able to put it back in a drawer after I leave. Haha. Oh don't be jealous all of you out there in blogdom. I will have to get rid of all this pottery somehow.

Shopping anyone?

Arent' those reuse shopping bags wonderful? You can just use them for anything! Adeline just loved this one. Who needs a stroller?  She is so tiny that she was a perfect fit. I walked all over with her in the bag. You could barely tell she was in there. She just loved it and did not want to get out so I obliged and swung her around and walked around and the whole time she had the cutest grin on her face.I had trouble getting her to want to get out.  I just love going green! Adeline was enthralled with PBS Caillou (sp?) She was so cute swinging her feet on the little chair.

Funny Adeline

I was working on the computer and Adeline was playing next to me when I notice exactly what she was doing. She was so funny in the log holder I just had to get the camera. She just played and played in that thing for the longest time. Who needs toys for children? Just getting ready to help Meme make pancakes. It's a dangerous job but someone has to do it. She got a kick out of these goggles. Maddox and Jackson got alot of use out of these too. I just love seeing the wonder on their faces as they look through the goggles. All the g-babies love sitting on this edge of the staircase. It is the perfect height and all of them over the years back into it til their bum hits the step and they sit down. So fun these little people are!

Brrrr

There's a reason we live in Georgia. We had a wonderful couple of days with Carol and Charlie. They took us to a friends house on Lime Lake in NY. Bill and Carol out on the deck trying not to freeze to death. It was a cute little lake. Carol was the photographer for the rest of us on the entry porch to the lake cottage. Carol and Charlies great granddaughter Anastasia. She turned 1 in Dec. 2010. We all met at Ted's hotdog stand. (a favoite of Bill's). We enjoyed a nice lunch visiting with Stacy and her beau and Anastasia. Stacy and her little one. We were all a bit wind blown but the hot dogs were still good.
