Most of the following pictures are just all the freezing things around us. It is quite a sacrifice to open my jacket, take out my camera, and capture these as I freeze for a couple minutes. I hope my posterity appreciates this.
This is the light fixture we needed to get to, then lower, then fix the bulb. Refer to your last letter from us.The icicles hung all the way to the ground. The house below we pass each day to work. The ice looked pretty cool. No pun intended.
Very deep snow but this day at least the sun was out and the snow glistened. You can only see the tops of the fences here at the Joseph Smith farm.
I think it will be awhile before we can use this picnic table.
One guy got creative and collected icicles and turned them upside down and made a wall out of them. At night he had them back lit and they looked really great.
This icicle was hanging from a wire. It broke off the house below and traveled down the wire. This is the Joseph Young property where we had some work one day.
Bill unhooked the icicle and became a Jedi Knight. Ice Saber?
An inside door knob. Just in case you were wondering about the cold.
This is the trailer we had to dig out to load up the snow blower. It may look like I'm smiling but my face was actually frozen that way.
It may look like a fog had moved in but this was actually a snow storm. It looked kind of eerie but beautiful at the same time.
Happy Valentines day everyone. A local business got into the spirit. There were tons of these hearts all over his store site.
We have become great friends with Elder and Sister Draper from Utah. They are awesome and we have loved getting to know them. They are site Missionaries.
What the heck is this you ask? Well it is a pair of panty hose that I stretched over a bucket and filled with ice melt. I then cut and tied the ends to make stocking torpedoes which we use to throw up on roofs and create a melted channel for the water to run through there by eliminating some roof leaks. At least in theory. They actually worked as long as you could sling them high enough. Of course in the Spring people will wonder why there are panty hose on the roofs. These are the kinds of things we do here. I know, crazy eh?
We had to clean all the grate covers in the Temple. These started out black but are actually brass and cleaned up quite well with a little elbow grease (did you catch that Ben?). The after and before shot.
Bill had to chop ice off the roof of the Smith barn to help prevent leaking. This was going on at many of our buildings by several of us as the leaking problems where driving us all crazy. Not too excited about him being on a ladder but he doesn't usually consult me on these things.
Ah, the infamous oxen. Here we are repairing the horn on Benjamin. Surely the strangest job I have had yet.
I have some more pictures on my phone that show the trap door to this area and the attic but I can't figure out how to get them to this blog so until I figure that out your imagination will have to do. It will be nice to start sharing green photos again after the white winter. Should be fun posting all our gear up for pageant time. Stay tuned.
