Got a chance to travel to Anna & Strattons over the Mother's day weekend and one of our projects we hoped to get at was getting Anna's garden started. She has this nice little patch next to her house that was just perfect for her first ever garden. I went off and got her some mushroom compost and some top soil then I put her to work getting it all turned in.

She was a pro with the shovel and got that patch looking fine. We took a rake to it and got it all ready for planting.

I had a spring horse to get rid of before we eventually move and since Adeline seemed to love it so much when she was at our house I asked Anna if she could give it a new home. They weren't able to take it back with them on their last visit so I drove the van and made the delivery when I came. You would have thought Adeline won the lottery. She was so excited. She kept screaming eeeee, eeeeee trying to imitate a horse neighing. Well she rode that thing into the sunset for sure.

It was so fun to watch her. She can climb right up on that thing. I'm not sure she can get down but I imagine gravity will eventually solve that problem. Anna said that Amy taught her how to climb up on it. Now that's a surprise!

Ah, this is the after photo. Doesn't it look fantastic. Sure hope the sun kisses it and Anna gets lots of yummy vegies. She planted tomatoes, beans, cukes, different lettuces, chard, and collards. It will be fun to see it grow.

We had the British Car days this weekend and Bill took away a new trophy. He won the tech award. It is given by the last recipient each year to whomever he feels is most deserving based on the work they have done on their own cars. So Bill gets to keep it for a year then pass it on. He was quite proud.

Nancy and Gary spent the afternoon with us too and I told Nancy to pick out her favorite car and I would take her picture by it. Turned out one of the owners heard us and offered her a chance to sit inside. It was fun seeing her look so natural behind the wheel. Better watch out Gary, she will be ditching her sewing soon and join a car club.

At the end of the day we were just getting ready to pack up and go home when a bride and groom that had been married on the grounds spotted the car that nearly matched their colors. They were wanting to take a pic besides it but we would have none of that and insisted they get in. The bridle party was waved in and the photographer ended up taking tons of shots and posing the wedding party and such. It was great fun and they all got a big kick out of it. So did we. Our little car will forever be in some cute couples wedding photos. Kind of a nice thought. Thats all folks.
Anna, your yard looks great! I always find it humorous that mom has more updates about your place than you do. ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the wedding pics- how fun! Congrats dad!! But your little car wins every award in my book. I didn't know that Amy taught Adeline how to climb up it, but it doesn't surprise me. In a few weeks, when we visit, I'll have to have her teach Adeline how to come down.
I think we had a horse like that and we all loved it too. How fun. I agree with Sarah about blog updates. Anna, Ben, and lately Lauren, where are you????? Hope everything comes up in the garden. We only had one a few years. Got some crazy worm on the tomatoes that I just couldn't get near and gave up. This year I want to try one of those upside down planters and hand it from my new pergola. Great talking to you Nel. Love always.
ReplyDeleteNow that you have Anna's garden growing how about mine!!!! I'm having Mark come to mulch and weed and trim my gardens this year. Seems some how my old bones are getting tired. It is always fun to watch a garden grow and also to eat the goodies from all the work you put into it. Love the picture of the wedding party I bet they will never forget you and your cute car. And Bill keep getting the awards--you deserve them. Glad you had a nice weekend. Love to you both, Gram
